Some of you may be trying a sober January. You've decided 2020 is going to be different and you're going to break your addictive patterns. Perhaps you're going strong on your goal or maybe you've significantly reduced your use. If you're trying to prove that you don't have an issue with substances by taking this month off....you may be mistaken. The fact that you're trying to control your consumption shows that you likely have a problem. And if you accomplish your goal of sober January, have you thought about how your February will unfold?
One of the dangers in doing a sober January is that Super Bowl follows shortly after. Historically this may have been a time where you haven't been able to control your drinking or using. And this may be especially difficult for you if you're coming off of a sober January and want to celebrate your accomplishment. If you can identify with sober January or not being able to control your substance consumption, please reach out. I'm here to help you break your addictive patterns. |
